Venue:  KFSH&RC: Wednesday: PGC Auditorium; Thursday: PG room 8

Coordinator: Dr Badr Almutairi, email: b_mutairi@yahoo.com

Workshop Faculty:
Ahmed Ba-Ssalammah, MD
Target Audience :
  • Diagnostic Radiologists
  • Interventional Radiologists
  • Nuclear Medicine Physicians
  • Hepatologists / Gastro-enterologists
  • Radiology Fellows and senior residents
  • MRI Technologists
  • May not be suitable for junior residents

Prerequisites:   Previous MRI experience

Workshop Description:

Comprehensive workshop discusses all aspects of MRI contrast and how to select the most appropriate contrast for the specific clinical scenario with special emphasis on “Hepatocyte Specific Agent – Primovist”. The course will cover indications, imaging protocols (for 1.5 and 3T MRI Units) and will discuss full spectrum of liver and biliary pathology including; characterization of focal lesions, imaging diffuse processes including cirrhosis and will also deal with post-operative issues and complications.

By the end of this workshop, it is expected that participants will be able to diagnose not only routine diseases of the hepatobiliary tree seen in daily practice, but also challenging cases, including early diagnosis, predicting the prognosis of focal and diffuse hepatobiliary disorders, using Primovist enhanced-MRI.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to:
  1. Understand the various MRI contrast agents and their uses including Hepatocyte specific agents.
  2. Describe in detail imaging protocol for both 1.5 and 3T units and mandatory sequences.
  3. Recognize patterns of common pathologies seen in the liver and biliary tree using Hepatocyte specific agents including post-operative complications.
