Dr. Miften is a Professor and Chief Physicist in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Colorado (CU), Anschutz Medical Campus. Dr. Miften received his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1994 and completed postdoctoral training in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University Michigan Medical School in 1996. He is a Fellow of the AAPM and is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He is a member of the Journal of Medical Physics Editorial Board and served on the Editorial Board for Journal of Clinical Applied Medical Physics from 2008-2012. He is currently serving as a Chair of the AAPM Radiation Dosimetry and Treatment Planning Subcommittee, Chair of AAPM Task Group 218, and Co-Chair of AAPM Task Group 203. He has been an invited speaker at national and international levels, giving more than 80 presentations at medical physics and radiation oncology conferences, author of over 78 peer-reviewed articles in the literature and 7 book chapters. At CU, Dr. Miften oversees a large physics group and his responsibilities involve clinical service, research, and teaching. He continues to work on projects to advance patient care in the areas of SBRT, IGRT, and treatment-response assessment.
